Subservient Chicken

April 10th, 2007 by Edward Dron

Subservient ChickenThis is a fun little viral piece from Burger King to promote their BK Tendercrisp.

There are two surprising things about this website. The first, is how long I actually stayed on it and made the chicken do asinine things. The second, is the fact that a family establishment like Burger King was behind it. The website has a bit of a seedy feel.

The theme behind the website plays on the whole web-cam porn concept. Visitors to www.subservientchicken.com can make the chick do things by simply typing commands into the request box. One thing that I think the BK people could have done better is the chicken’s reaction to the “eat BK Tendercrisp” command. The chicken seems to give the “I want to vomit” symbol. Not the best reaction you’d want to have associated with your product. I realize that it’s a chick eating chicken, but I think they missed an opportunity.
