Burger King has recently completed an interesting social experiment. What if you took a companies most popular product and simply discontinued it? How would customers react?

Okay, this has got to be one of the best viral campaigns I’ve seen.
To promote a show about a serial killer called Dexter, Fox has developed a website that allows you to customize a realistic video news report for your friends. In this video the broadcaster talks about a serial killer and his next victim (your friend). It even gives you the option to send them a creepy text message. This campaign won Best use of Viral Marketing at the BIMAs this year. It’s definitely worth a click!

Christmas e-cards have been done to death. We’ve all received them and most of us have sent at least one. For your e-card to succeed, you’ll need to create something different and daring. Here are two websites that are spreading joy and all that good stuff via the web.
Tattoo Santa is a fun little website from R/GA, which allows you to send someone a holiday message by tattooing it on Santa’s body.
BCHydro Holiday Card uses the viral aspect of e-cards to raise money for charity. For every person that plays the e-card, BCHydro donates a quarter to BC Children’s Hospital. This is an interesting way to diminish the guilt often associated with sending your friends yet another e-card.

I recently reported on a half-baked idea by KFC called willitspill.com. Unfortunately, it was far from being viral worthy.
With that said, KFC has recently executed a guerrilla stunt that has the potential to go viral. They have painted a giant KFC logo in the Nevada desert. Although the occasional airplane might see this, the big payoff comes from Google. The KFC logo can now be found on Google Maps!
